Free the Wrecks Initiative
The wrecks are underwater monuments of cultural heritage.
The purpose of this initiative s to free the shipwrecks in Greek territory from nets and fishing gear for their unobstructed view, access and promotion.
The presence of fishing gear prevents safe access, makes it difficult to capture and degrades the image of a wreck.
Its aim is to highlight the glamor of a historical monument free from human intervention through targeted cleaning actions.
The actions will be organized by Ghost Diving Greece with participation criteria for the local Diving Centers.
At the end of a completed action, participating dive centers will receive the title of Ambassador for a specific wreck or wrecks that they will care for and preserve.

Scheduled Free the Wrecks Missions
Scubalife in collaboration with Ghost Diving Greece and other Ghost diving chapters plans for the following missions:
Scheduled to run between Sep 18 -22, 2023 with a goal to free Junkers Ju-52 German aircraft being covered by a trawler net.
Scheduled to run between December 12 – 16, 2023 with a goal to free CS RETRIEVER and NV PYLAROS wrecks from trawler nets.
